To My Parents;
These Poems Are Dedicated To My Parents: (Mama mean Mother)
MY DAD, MY SAVIOUR.
Where do I start from?And how do I start. You worth being a father,You knew your responsibilities before my birthYou knew I needed food, shelter, cloth,Medical attention and above all, education.
You toiled 24hrs to meet my unlimited wants,You have not been a capitalist,Yet, I could not lack. In my childhood,You dressed me like one of the monkeys that live on Aso Rock. You invested your wealth for me to acquire western education.Western education is the weapon that saves me from the terror of ignorant.
Indeed, you are my saviour. I recall how you used to beat me like an oxen,I never knew you were correcting the wrongs in me,But now I understand. When and how do I repay you?
Can I send you to school? Which school?Shall your labour past be vain? No Ishaya (snr.), Being it in the rain or under the sun,You shall reap the dividends of your investment.
MAMA, I LOVE YOU:
To you my hat is doff. Prior to my birth, you visited honeymoon with your guy.
Afterwards, you started feeling unusual, your appettite changed. For about 270 days, I was in your womb, I robbed you of your food. In you was my latrine, and with your breathe and strength you pushed me out.
During my birth you loss three liters of blood, Blood is life, you have therefore laydown your life for my sake.
Lydia, I can't thank you enough.
You again nursed me with your fluid and without my permision even in the night, you could not sleep.
I was young but stubborn. Giving you different kinds of order, to wash and cook for me. In all, you were obedience. Mama, come what may, I shall put smile on your face with time.
